Linkin Park Digipak:
When looking at this digipak it is clear to see what works well and what does not. The title is sharp and bold, it contrasts well with the grey background and grabs your attention, this is the effect that a title should have and therefore it follows conventions as it showcases the brand. The silhouettes of the band are key as it shows the whole group as being involved but also creates questions due to each band members different spacing. The back cover has no track list which is subverting conventions of a digipak and therefore this should not be done. The theme throughout the digipak is dark and grey, this shows how the theme needs to be constant and therefore needs to have pictures that match each other. The band members look formally dressed however due to their dark colour it is difficult to tell. The barcode included is used on most digipaks and therefore as we will follow conventions it will be on our back cover.
Oasis Digipak:
This digipak shows both the front and back as well as the actual disk. The front cover of the album uses a picture of the band with an effect that blurs their appearance, this is not done on indie albums as the artist's face needs to be seen. The title of the album is in white writing however this is not clear at the writing fades into the background slightly due to its lack of boldness and the backgrounds light colour. The band name however is very visible as it is outlined by a dark shape with contrasting white writing that makes the name more recognisable. This follows conventions as bands try and sell their brand to the audience. The back cover has a similar picture to the front but with the band members in a different pose. This creates a sense of difference and variation. The track list is shown on the back cover which follows conventions however the small white writing is difficult to read and can therefore be seen as irrelevant as it is so difficult to see however it shows that a track list should be included. The CDs in the album are very different, one is a more plain and fixed image whereas the other is more in keeping with the look of the covers as it has a similar filter.
The Verve Digipak:
This digipak shows the front cover and the two inside covers. The front cover use bold black writing in the top corner, this contrasts well with the image as the sky is grey and matches well with the black. The band name is in much bigger writing than the album name, this is conventional for bands that use their name as a brand however for indie bands, this is the other way round as the album name will be bigger. The image used shows the band together as a group and therefore supports the idea that they are a group of friends. the colours used are more vintage and therefore add a more organic feel to the cover. The image also uses natural light which adds to the organic look of the band. The inside cover of the album is a similar picture to the cover, this creates a symmetry within the digipak between images. The CD itself is very plain and has no image behind it, this can be seen as being more dull and plain therefore we did not follow this.
