music video tips

Making a music video can help promote your band, through video sites such as YouTube. Music videos should be like a story, they need a narrative with a beginning, middle and end. The narrative should be related to the words of the song and the idea around it.

Tips for making a successful music video:

  1. Choose a song and base the band around it - as this is their debut, the song chosen is integral as the band need to be able to fit their image around the words of the song
  2. Ensure that the actors you choose can actually play the instruments in the song - the image needs to be real and create the image of a real group, their style and talent need to fit in with the song
  3. The narrative needs to be related to the words of the song - the narrative and song need to blend in well together so the video is seamless and runs well
  4. A good use of marketing and product creation to attract target audience - by creating adverts, albums and a website will raise awareness and increase their brand
  5. The video should contain the 3 types of narrative - the performance element, the lip sync element and the narrative element. If all of these are included then the video will be more exciting and interesting.
  6. Make a presentation that outlines the idea in full - this will help outline the final idea of the video and allow people to see what you intend to create
